Happy Birthday, Silas! Part I

On January 14, our sweet, soulful Silas turned 2 years old! I cannot believe how fast time flies.

I remember....
  • how we left for the hospital so early so we'd be ready for my scheduled c-section at 8:00 am
  • how you surprised everyone (but your momma) by being so big (9 lbs. 11 oz)
  • how LOUD you cried
  • how you sprinkled the doctor immediately upon your exit from the womb
  • how adorable and precious you were (and still are!)
  • how quickly my heart filled with so much love
  • how much Joel loved you the first time he met you
  • how happy we were to finally hold you in our arms
  • how you looked so deeply into people's eyes, even in your first hours of life
  • how honored we felt to be your parents!
Silas, you are a precious soul! You are so smart! You know all your colors, letters and most of your numbers. You love to read! You are your own person. While you like playing with Joel and seeing all that he does, you are perfectly fine doing your own thing. You love your momma! You love your daddy too but at this point in your life, momma is your favorite person. Your vocabulary is crazy big and you just started putting more complete thoughts together. It's quite amazing to see your brain processing as you say complete thoughts rather than just a few key words. You are a great eater. You love fruit and we're working on vegetables. You are a thinker. You like to plan something out in your head, figure out how to do it, and then go do it. You don't like to fail. You look so much like your Papa and I see some of Momma Jill in you too. You love animals. You love planes, trains and cars. You are my commentator and require acknowledgement of every word you say. Your heart is big. You give big hugs and like to cuddle. You like to play with your friends and have (mostly) learned how to be gentle with those who are smaller than you. Most are smaller than you. At your 2 year check, you were off the charts in height (36.5") and in the 95% for weights (35 lbs). You are wearing size 4T shirts and 3T pants....our big boy! We love you Silas, to the moon and back!

As part of Silas' birthday, we took the boys to SeaWorld in February, with a special thanks to cousin Katy!  We decided to keep his party pretty small and to celebrate "Turning 2 with Shamu". The decorations were black and white and all the food was black and white. I made an oreo cake and Kim R. made her famous homemade vanilla ice cream. We also had a few snacks...oreo cookies, ice cold milk, tootsie rolls, and a little black licorice for Kim V.

All the cards, which is worth noting, because Silas is the only 2 year old I know that loves cards. I mean, loves them! He read each card over and over and over.

The kiddos were very entertained by the balloons.
