Tis the Season 2010...Goes to NOLA

Early on New Year's Eve, David, the boys and I loaded up and headed to Love Field to fly down to New Orleans. We made a quick stop at David and Kassidy's and then headed over to the New Orleans Children's Museum's New Year's Eve at Noon party. It. was. packed! I have never seen so many kids in such a small space, but the boys loved it!

I love these two of Jaxon and Joel because they are making the same expression with their mouths.

Joel was excited about something!

At noon they had a New Year's eve countdown. The ball dropped, the confetti exploded and everyone cheered. It was nuts!

Yay for 2011!

Happy

New

Year!

Pure joy!

Since David and Kassidy weren't able to be in Midland for Christmas Day, we exchanged gifts are their place on New Year's Eve night.

David, Kassidy, David and I were pretty lame on New Year's Eve while my parents and Sarah headed to Jackson Square and the French Quarter. They said it was packed and a little crazy but quite an experience!

On Saturday the kids went to a bounce place to jump off their energy. Kassidy organized a family photo shoot that afternoon and then we went over to Celebration in the Oaks. It's a little amusement park in New Orleans' City Park to have a little fun.

We started out on a roller coaster that had a light up dinosaur at the bottom of the first big hill. I was sitting in between Joel and Silas. They enjoyed the ride the first time. Then we went around a second time. The dinosaur lit up and Silas was done. He started saying, "Dat enough! Dat enough! All done! All done!" He was not impressed. He never got really upset or cried; he was just so matter-of-fact about it.

After the eventful ride....what would turn out to be the first of many eventful rides for little Silas....

This was our next ride....the cars. The boys all piled in and Silas "drove" them around.

Notice that ALL 4 kids are happy here. It didn't last.

Next up: the airplanes. Silas wanted nothing to do with this ride. Since they flew in the air, I definitely did not push him. The other three boys had a great time!

The big boys decided to take another ride on the planes so I took Silas over to ride the cars again. He liked it the first time, right? He did not want to get on so I backed off. We were at the front of the line so while everyone else loaded up, I kept asking him. He finally wanted to get on and even buckled his own seat belt. Well, two seconds after the ride started, Silas wriggled out and stood up. He was climbing out of the car when the worker finally stopped the car. Scared. me. to. death. And the worker was not happy! Yikes!

We met back up with the rest of the crew and decided to check out the carousel. Again, Silas was ready to go as David stepped on with him. Then it started. The carousel, I mean, but also the screaming. You would ave thought that we were torturing the poor kid!

Look at that face. David's, I mean.

The big boys rode lots of other rides. We tried to keep Silas happy, bribing him with funnel cake. At one point, we got cold so I tried to take him back inside the carousel room to warm up. Big mistake. Huge. One big meltdown later and we were back outside. Joel and Jaxon were SO excited to go on the Ferris wheel so Aunt Kassidy took them up. They loved being so high! And we ended the night on the little train that choo-choos around the park. Silas was not excited to go on that either, but settled down once he realized that a) we were all riding and b) it didn't go fast. He liked pointing out all the Christmas lights hanging from the trees around the park.

We ended the night with pizza from the Louisiana Pizza Company. So good!

Sunday morning we got up and headed to the Superdome to cheer for the Saints. The boys had a great time cheering...."Go Gaints! Who Dat!" After the game we headed down to the field and the boys ran and ran and ran and ran.

Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotcha!

And another one of me with Silas.
For the record, Joel did not stop the entire time we were there. Thus, no pictures of me and Joel.

The big brothers looking for adventure

And finally worn out!

That's all folks!
